FILER, Idaho (AP) — A south-central Idaho police officer placed on administrative leave after shooting and killing a resident's dog is back on duty.
Filer Mayor Rick Dunn tells The Times-News (http://bit.ly/1itexf2) that Tarek Hassani since Saturday has been working his regular patrol shift.
On Feb. 8, Hassani responded to a report of dogs running loose, and he went to the home of Rick Clubb to deliver a citation.
Hassani's dashboard-mounted camera shows two dogs circling him, barking at him and sometimes lunging toward him. In the video, he kicks at a 7-year-old black Labrador named Hooch before shooting it.
Protesters have demanded Hassani be fired, but others have defended Hassani, saying Filer has a problem with dogs running loose.
Dunn says an eight-hour training session in aggressive dog handling is planned for May.
