BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — Robbie Knievel was charged with felony driving under the influence in Butte, Montana — the town his daredevil father Evel Knievel helped make famous.
Prosecutors say Knievel ran a red light Tuesday evening and rear-ended another vehicle, causing a chain-reaction crash involving two other vehicles. No one was injured.
Knievel, who is 52, also was charged with criminal endangerment, running a red light, leaving the scene and operating a vehicle without a breath-alcohol ignition interlock device.
The Montana Standard reports (http://bit.ly/1Hmz0SU ) that Knievel did not enter a plea during his City Court appearance Wednesday He asked for a public defender. His next court appearance is set for May 21.
Knievel was to be released from jail on the condition that he submit to twice-daily alcohol screening or wear a bracelet that detects alcohol use.
