LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A Lexington restaurant is facing more lawsuits during an investigation of a gastrointestinal illness outbreak at the business.
Multiple media outlets report six additional lawsuits have been filed against Tarheel Q after complaints of salmonella.
Owner Trey Payne voluntarily closed the restaurant last week and had planned to reopen it Monday, but didn't.
County health director Monecia Thomas says people who ate at the restaurant between June 6 and 19 and have symptoms should call the Davidson County Health Department. Thomas said the cause of the outbreak is unknown.
Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, stomach pain, fever, nausea and vomiting.
State officials say the continued closure of Tarheel Q remains voluntary.
