Reno police ID homeless man, 50, found dead near downtown

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police say they have identified the homeless man found dead a few blocks from the downtown casino district and are actively pursuing leads in what they believe was a homicide.

Police identified the victim Wednesday as 50-year-old Percy Candelaria but released no additional information about him.

Candelaria was lying face down with blood around his face about 7 a.m. Saturday when he was found unresponsive along the Truckee River bike trail near Lake Street. He was declared dead at the scene.

Secret Witness is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible.
