FRANKLIN, Va. (AP) — Authorities searching for a missing Longwood University student have found human remains in Southampton County.

Norfolk police tell media outlets that the remains were discovered Thursday morning outside a residence in Franklin. The remains will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and to determine the cause of death.

The FBI and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management also are involved in the search for 18-year-old Angelica "AJ" Hadsell.

Hadsell has been missing since March 3. She was last seen at her parents' home in Norfolk.
