PROVO, Utah (AP) — A fire caused about $300,000 in damage to a house belonging to a Provo fire battalion chief.
A total of 26 firefighters from all five Provo fire stations as well as Orem responded to the Saturday afternoon blaze at Jeremy Craft's home.
No family members were home at the time, and three firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire Marshal Lynn Schofield says neighbors reported seeing smoke coming from the upstairs, and it took firefighters over an hour to control the blaze.
Schofield says the fire began in an upstairs bedroom and was apparently caused by an electrical malfunction in a wall outlet.
