WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man has been indicted on charges he raped a developmentally and physically disabled woman on a break from her job bagging groceries.

Authorities say 37-year-old Fitton Telesford was arraigned Tuesday on charges of rape, criminal sexual act and sexual abuse.

The Westchester County District Attorney's Office says Telesford approached the 39-year-old woman while she was working on Feb. 7 inside a grocery store in New Rochelle.

Prosecutors say the New Rochelle man offered to take her out for pizza. But investigators say he drove her to a parking lot and sexually assaulted her.

Telesford is being held at the Westchester County jail.

He's due back in court on Sept. 1.

It's unclear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
