SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a 26-year-old man suspected of killing his girlfriend before shooting himself in the head has died.
North Park Police said Wednesday that Christian Emerson died of his wounds Tuesday night in a Salt Lake City hospital.
Police believe Emerson shot at 26-year-old Amanda Hoyt multiple times before the couple was found in a car about midnight Sunday.
Hoyt's family said in a statement that she suffered from diabetes, and had double organ transplant that gave her a new lease on life in June, months before her death.
Her family says she was planning to be a nurse.
Police say the investigation into what led up to the shooting is continuing.
The couple was found in North Logan, about 86 miles north of Salt Lake City.
