Police: Deputies fatally shoot man who fired gun during stop

NEWNAN, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say Georgia sheriff's deputies fatally shot a man during a traffic stop.

Coweta County Sheriff Det. Kevin Yarbrough tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://on-ajc.com/1WxpVhv ) that the driver shot at deputies and drove away during a traffic stop on Wednesday evening. Yarbrough says deputies then fired.

Coweta County Sheriff Maj. Tony Grant told WSB-TV that the man fired six times at deputies. Grant said no deputies were injured.

No further information about the man or the deputies involved was released Wednesday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case.
