PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The University of Pennsylvania's president, Amy Gutmann, is now the school's highest-paid employee after a 35 percent increase in compensation in the 2012-13 fiscal year.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Thursday (http://bit.ly/Z8YYFP ) that Gutmann was paid $2.82 million in overall compensation.
The compensation details were included in new tax filings.
Robert Muller, the CEO of Penn's health system, was the second-highest paid school employee at $2.37 million.
Last year, Gutmann was the sixth-highest-paid private university president in the nation and second-highest-paid Ivy League president, behind only Lee Bollinger of Columbia University. That's according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The year before, Gutmann received a 43 percent boost in pay. The 64-year-old Gutmann took the job in 2004 and has a contract through 2019
