Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police in Salt Lake City are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the northwest edge of downtown.

Police say the man's body was discovered about 5:30 a.m. Saturday near 1400 West. North Temple south of the KOA Campground. They say the driver of the vehicle had already fled the area.

Detectives are reviewing video surveillance in the area to try to come up with a description of the vehicle.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
