OREM, Utah (AP) — A 40-year-old Orem man has been arrested in connection with a monthlong FBI investigation into child pornography.
The (Provo) Daily Herald reports (http://tinyurl.com/hsd77e5) Jeffrey Baxter was arrested after FBI special agents and Orem police officers seared a search warrant at his home on Wednesday.
Investigators say he's suspected of downloading and viewing more than 6,000 computer files of child porn while simultaneously making it available on sharing networks.
Baxter allegedly told police initially that he downloaded the material accidentally.
He was booked into Utah County Jail on 30 counts of suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor. It's not clear if he has a lawyer or will be appointed one.
