OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Department of Health says eight people have now died due to influenza in the state this flu season.
The department said Thursday there have been about 400 people hospitalized since October and the latest death was in Le Flore County last week. Statewide, Tulsa County has had three flu deaths while Delaware, Harper, Le Flore, Oklahoma and Rogers counties have one each.
Four deaths are in the 65 and older age group, three were 50-64 and one was between 18 and 49.
Influenza in the state for the 2015-16 season is so far lower than last season when at least 114 people died and more than 2,000 were hospitalized.
Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
