ATLANTA (AP) — A man accused of fatally shooting three homeless men and a hairdresser walking to her car pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to charges in two of the slayings in Atlanta.
Aeman Presley, 35, appeared in Fulton County Superior Court, where he waived formal arraignment and entered his plea of not guilty. Presley faces charges including murder, felony murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Police have said Presley killed two homeless men as they slept on Atlanta sidewalks wrapped in blankets last November. Dorian Jenkins, 42, was killed Nov. 23, followed by Tommy Mims, 68, on Nov. 26.
Presley has also pleaded not guilty to similar charges in neighboring DeKalb County, where prosecutors filed separate indictments in the killings of 53-year-old Calvin Gholston on Sept. 27 and 44-year-old Karen Pearce on Dec. 6.
Presley faces charges including malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault in the killing of Gholston, who was sleeping in an alley next to a shopping center. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty in that case, and a trial is set to start Feb. 29.

Police say Presley robbed and killed her as she walked to her car in downtown Decatur, right next to Atlanta, after dinner with friends. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in that case, and no trial date has been set.
