LAS VEGAS (AP) — A shooting in Las Vegas has left one man dead and his roommate in jail on suspicion of murder.

Police say Charles Redd Jr. of Las Vegas was booked into the Clark County jail in the death of 48-year-old Tony Newberry.

Investigators believe the two were walking Thursday night when an argument between them escalated and the shooting occurred.

Newberry was pronounced dead at the scene after he was found in the roadway on Owens Avenue near Eastern Avenue.

Police say the suspect fled but was later located and taken into custody.
