BOSTON (AP) — American mayors are heading to Boston to address the most pressing issues facing their communities.
More than 250 city executives are taking part in the U.S. Conference of Mayors' annual meeting that runs Friday through Monday. The gathering is focused on infrastructure, cybersecurity, school safety, immigration, automation and other issues affecting cities.
Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook, will join Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh on Friday for a discussion on how communities leverage technology. Mayors are also expected to decide on the nonpartisan organization's advocacy priorities.
Some mayors will be arriving in Boston earlier for the International Mayors Climate Summit on June 7. That one-day event at Boston University is also hosted by Walsh and features former Secretary of State John Kerry.
