FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) — The path to a bachelor's degree in nursing may be getting smoother — and faster.
Frostburg State University said Monday it has received nearly $2.5 million from the Maryland Higher Education Commission to develop collaborative programs with some community colleges to streamline the process.
The programs will enable Frostburg State freshmen to apply for the registered nurse program at nearby Allegany College of Maryland while they're taking courses at Frostburg. Currently, Frostburg pre-nursing students must complete their RN training elsewhere, and then return to Frostburg for the bachelor's degree.
Frostburg State says it also will partner with the Community College of Baltimore County in Catonsville and Essex to streamline the transition from an associate's degree to a bachelor's degree in nursing.
