LAS VEGAS (AP) — The former owner of a Las Vegas escort service has been sentenced to 15 months in prison and ordered to repay more than $230,000 in restitution for his guilty plea in a federal tax evasion case.

Emannouil "Manny" Varagiannis (vera-gee-AH'-nis) also was ordered Monday to forfeit two Las Vegas homes he bought for cash as part of his sentence by U.S. District Judge Phillip Pro.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden says the 44-year-old former Midnight Entertainers operator pleaded guilty in April 2014 to one count of tax evasion. He's due to report to federal prison April 3.

Bogden says investigators found Varagiannis made 182 financial deposits totaling about $1.5 million from January 2009 to August 2012 in ways to avoid reporting the money to the Internal Revenue Service.
