ATLANTA (AP) — A former Emory University employee has pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges after she was accused of embezzling more than $317,000 in student fees and tuition over a two-year period.

Federal prosecutors say 53-year-old Brenda Michael was an administrative assistant at Emory from 2007 to 2014. They say she directed students to make tuition and fee payments to a PayPal account while enrolling them for certain classes and programs.

Prosecutors say it was her own personal account, and she spent the money on personal expenses.

Michael is due to be sentenced July 8.
