WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida man was injured in a police chase in Kentucky that ended in a shootout and crash.
Kentucky State Police told news outlets a trooper and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife official tried to pull 28-year-old Earl Reynolds III of Apopka, Florida, over Tuesday afternoon, leading to a chase that looped on interstates into Corbin and Williamsburg.
A Williamsburg officer used a tire deflation device on Reynolds' Dodge Charger, at which point police say Reynolds fired shots at a Williamsburg police cruiser. The officer whose vehicle was struck fired back at Reynolds, hitting him in the neck. Reynolds' car then ran into a ditch.
Reynolds was hospitalized with injuries thought to be non-life-threatening. Charges are expected.
No officers were injured.
Police say Reynolds' car was stolen in Florida.
