FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — Fairbanks North Star Borough schools superintendent Karen Gaborik has won a three-year contract.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner newspaper (http://is.gd/Myh2AU) reports the borough school district board voted to approve the contract Tuesday.
Under the contract, Gaborik will earn a base annual salary of nearly $160,000 and receive a yearly expense allowance of up to $13,000.
Gaborik stepped in as acting superintendent a year ago after the board placed former superintendent Pete Lewis on leave as it began an internal investigation into the district's handling of complaints about inappropriate conduct by employees.
Lewis was later terminated.
