LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 37-year-old former Las Vegas police officer has been sentenced to probation and four years' house arrest for his conviction in a child pornography possession case.

James William Henry also has to register as a sex offender under terms of his sentence Monday by Clark County District Court Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez.

Henry could have faced up to six years in prison on each of 10 felony counts of possessing child pornography. He faces up to 30 months if he violates terms of his probation.

Henry pleaded guilty in December to one charge of possession of a visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of a child.

Defense lawyer Louis Schneider says Henry resigned after 12 years in the police department, and now works installing air conditioning and heating units.
