RENO, Nev. (AP) — A former Nevada lawmaker says he's being harassed at his Lake Tahoe home by a bear advocacy group and is asking asking a judge to order the group to leave him alone.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/1A3K4C7 ) former Republican state Sen. William O'Donnell filed a request in Washoe County on Tuesday for a protective order.

O'Donnell, who represented Las Vegas in the Assembly from 1987 to 2001, says members of the nonprofit Bear League have been calling his house and holding a vigil outside his home after state wildlife officials installed a bear trap outside his home in May.

O'Donnell says he's had damage to his home from a bear.

Bear League founder Ann Bryant says the group is working to prevent a bear capture but says there's no merit to O'Donnell's allegations.
