REXBURG, Idaho (AP) — Officers responding to a robbery report in an Idaho alley expected to find armed gunmen. Instead, they found themselves facing off with college students with video cameras.
The Idaho State Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1Wtj5Gk ) that Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis says actors were carrying airsoft guns that looked very real, prompting numerous calls about a possible robbery at Florence's Exquisite Candies on Saturday.
Florence's manager Jill Anderson says owner Brian Manwaring knew students planned to film there. She says the students were cooperative with police and called the incident "harmless."
Lewis says police haven't filed charges, but that doesn't mean they won't. He says the realistic-looking fake guns could have created a dangerous situation if something went wrong.
Police are still investigating the incident.
