LAS VEGAS (AP) — Recent disclosures that a Nevada prison inmate was shot dead by a prison guard in November are bringing to light other previously unreported shootings that left inmates wounded at High Desert State Prison outside Las Vegas.

That's a facility where records show officers fired guns 215 times in five years from 2007 to 2011.

In January 2012, six inmates were wounded by shotgun blasts from a guard breaking up a breakfast scuffle.

Six months later, an inmate was blinded in one eye when a guard fired to stop two inmates fighting at dinner.

Accounts of those cases are found in federal and state lawsuits reviewed by The Associated Press.

They come with Nevada prisons chief Greg Cox due to testify Wednesday on budget questions before state lawmakers in Carson City.
