LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Las Vegas area is being warned of smoke from a wildfire near the Arizona border that could affect air quality.
The Clark County Department of Air Quality issued an advisory Monday in effect through Tuesday.
Although air pollution was not hitting an unhealthy level yet, the county warned that children, the elderly and people with respiratory or heart diseases should stay indoors to avoid possible exposure to smoke.
About 300 firefighters are battling the wildfire in the Mohave Valley amid strong winds and low humidity Monday.
The fire, which may have started with lightning, has already burned about 10 square miles in northwestern Arizona and forced 1,000 homes to evacuate.
