SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say three people are dead and two others have been injured after a multi-vehicle car crash on Interstate 15 near Lehi.
The Utah Highway Patrol says the crash happened near the Utah-Salt Lake County line just before midnight Tuesday.
Troopers say a northbound car that had possibly been speeding in a construction zone slammed into the back of a van. A pickup truck and semi-trailer rig were involved in chain-reaction collisions.
The driver of the car, 59-year-old Dale Orton from Sandy, died from his injuries.
Two passengers in the van also died from their injuries: 16-year-old Keegan Colbree and 53-year-old Deeann Colbree, both of Layton. A man and girl who were also in the van were hospitalized in critical condition.
Troopers say they're still investigating the crash.
