BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Developers will likely break ground next year on the first phase of a 2,000-home project in southwest Boise.
Developer Michael Coughlin plans to build 453 homes on 101 acres in the first phase, The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/1YgSQbp).
City of Boise planner Todd Tucker said Tuesday that the entire development, called Syringa Valley, is expected to include 2,000 homes on 601 acres, as well as a high school, elementary school, city park and two commercial areas. The development is expected to unfold over the next 20 years.
Coughlin has requested a "specific plan" for Syringa Valley. A specific plan is used by city planners to lay out details for large phased development. The City Council must approve them and any future changes.
If approved, Syringa Valley would be the third specific plan in Boise.
The Boise Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider Syringa Valley on Jan. 4. Tucker said that hearing likely will be pushed back if the project runs into controversy at meetings held by the Ada County Highway District due to the request to extend a road through the development.
