SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man who killed a Washington state woman and injured an Idaho woman after hitting the two with his pickup as they walked along a road in Sandpoint has been sentenced to prison.

The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that 24-year-old Peter Goullette received the sentence Wednesday in 1st District Court.

Goullette in April pleaded guilty to felony manslaughter and misdemeanor reckless driving.

Police say 61-year-old Katherine Stelzer of Mead, Washington, died after being hit by Goullette in June 2016. Zualita Updike of Clark Fork, Idaho, was injured.

Goullette apologized at the sentencing hearing.
