THAILAND — With how hot it has been outside lately in Utah, it's a little bit easier to enjoy rainstorms. Following the example of elephants featured in this YouTube video is a great way to do that.
This simple video just shows elephants enjoying the rain, which is falling very heavily. They trumpet, wag their ears and search for puddles so they can splash some mud onto their backs using their trunks.
To those who know me well, it's no secret that elephants are my favorite animal. I have watched a lot of videos of elephants — baby elephants falling down, elephants interacting with humans and elephants in beautiful locations. But in all of those videos, I've never heard excited trumpeting quite like I hear in this video.
I understand, as a human, there are a few pretty good reasons to not go out in the rain and start splashing mud on yourself, but this video makes it seem like it might just be worth the consequences.
The elephants featured in the video, posted by Save Elephant Foundation, are at an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center in northern Thailand, Elephant Nature Park.
If you're looking to spend a few minutes smiling today, this video will definitely help.
The description suggests closing your eyes and just listening to the elephant noises and rain. I tried that the third time I watched the video, and I agree it was a wonderful experience.
