SALT LAKE CITY -- It would appear Utahns love their hamburgers, judging from the number of hamburger chains and restaurants that have opened here over the past year.
Chad Stubbs of the Chadders restaurant in West Valley City says they cut their fries from freshly peeled Idaho potatoes. He says the unique ground chuck they use for their burgers sets them apart from the rest.
"To me, cheap is not better. Cheap is cheap," he explains.

Stubbs has tried to create a niche with Chadders using simple, fresh burgers. Some people think the opening of Chadders may have prompted In-N-Out expand in Utah.
Several other burger places opened or expanded in Utah during 2009, including Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Smashburger, Salt Lake City Burger Company and Tony Burgers.
"Everybody's trying to create the ultimate burger," says Stubbs.
Stubbs says Chadders is now in Idaho with three franchise locations and will soon open in Ogden and South Jordan.
