This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

"An arresting taste of New York in every bite." That's the slogan I saw during my recent visit to NYPD Pizza in Draper. What an appropriate term "arresting" is when describing food offered at a restaurant that displays colorful memorabilia of the New York Police Department.

Of course, the restaurant is in no way affiliated with or endorsed by the New York Police Department. But the founder of the NYPD Restaurant chain wanted to bring a little piece of New York to cities across the nation. Since everyone knows and respects the NYPD, it was an appropriate symbol.

Jim Rodriguez and Angelo Zuillo are the owners of the Draper NYPD location, which opened in March 2009. I was told that the restaurant has been busy from the opening day and its client base is growing. Customers can enjoy the inviting ambiance when they eat on the premises, but there is also a loyal following for take-out, delivery and catering.

The menu is extensive with a large variety of Italian specialties. I counted 16 specialty pizzas; 10 pasta and specialty dishes; seven appetizers; five calzones and specialty rolls; eight salads; and five gourmet hero sandwiches. Martin told me that pizza lovers can "write their own ticket" by selecting a wide variety of toppings to design their own pizza. I also learned about the popular "Most Wanted" desserts.

NYPD Pizza emphasizes freshness and quality. This might mean your food takes a little longer, but the wait is worth it. The owners say the restaurant uses the best ingredients with extra virgin olive oil, homemade, hand-tossed dough and fresh vegetables and herbs.

Jim Rodriguez told me that the company's founder is from a traditional New York Italian family. He wanted to show the rest of the world what a true New York pizza was. NYPD Pizza now serves authentic New York-style pizza in neighborhoods across the nation including Draper!

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
