Leon Crowley's fascination with the automotive industry started at a young age. His father owned a wrecking yard, and Leon spent his formative years working there. He later found that automotive work came naturally to him.
Leon received a degree in industrial arts and taught school for six years. However, his true passion still lay in automotive work. In 1976, Leon partnered with his brother and another friend and started a business selling torque converters, a necessary part for any work on automatic transmissions. The business was so successful that it began distributing parts into 11 different states.
Despite his successful venture, Leon found himself dissatisfied with things he saw happening in the industry. He decided to start his own company dedicated solely to transmission work. He purchased that portion of the business and started Transmission Exchange, located in Salt Lake City.
Transmission Exchange focuses exclusively on servicing and rebuilding transmissions. Leon prides himself on offering the best service at the most affordable price. He feels it's important have integrity so his customers know they can trust him. This philosophy has worked out well since most of his business has come from word of mouth, and he now serves a four-state radius.
The company carries a stock of around 500 re-built transmissions that are fully tested and ready to install. This helps get customers back on the road more quickly.
Leon tells me Transmission Exchange is the only AAA approved facility for transmissions in the state. In order to receive that designation, the business must have at least a 97 percent or higher satisfaction rate. Transmission Exchange has maintained 100 percent for several years, which Leon feels is a positive reflection on the business.
