NEW YORK, Nov 3, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Roseanne Barr is coming back to television in the role of stand-up comedian in "Roseanne Barr: Blonde and Bitchin'" on HBO.

In an interview with TVGuide.com, Barr said she'd been absent from the spotlight because she'd been focused on raising her son. After her sitcom "Roseanne" went off the air in 1997, she became a regular subject of tabloid press coverage.

Barr, who dyed her hair blonde for the special, told TVGuide that although she does not want to get too much into the political arena, she does have a few things to say.

"There's only one political party, and it's the money party. It has two sides, Democrat and Republican, but they both basically work for corporate interests that have nothing to do with the people of this country," Barr told TVGuide.

After being voted the world's worst singer, Barr said she wanted to overcome that title, so she sings on her special as well.

Barr told TVGuide she dyed her hair because people were mistaking her for Rosie O'Donnell.
