SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 30, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco will serve as the launching point for a new North American tour of Matthew Bourne's "Edward Scissorhands."
The 12-city tour for the musical dance piece will be focused in the United States except for a stop in Toronto and will continue to feature the original London company that presented the play during recent tours of both Britain and Japan, said Playbill.com.
Based on the 1990 Tim Burton film of the same name, the production will focus on a man who attempts to blend into a suburban neighborhood while those around him deal with the fact he was made with scissors instead of hands by a late scientist.
Just as Danny Elfman produced the music for Burton's film, the tour will feature the musical works of Terry Davies who based his contributions on Elfman's haunting score.
The Web site said that veteran stage actors Richard Winsor and Sam Archer will take on the production's lead role in alternating appearances during the tour.
