At 5:40 we talked with Mark Mauer, the Executive Director of the Sentencing Project about how much it costs to house prisoners who are incarcerated for low level offenses. He thinks the parole system should change the rules and let the low level offenders out of jail rather than keeping them in the slammer at great cost to the taxpayer. The Senate is considering passing a bill that would give the President the power to make a decision to shut down cyber-commerce if there is a perceived threat. One group doesn't like the ides, the Center for Democracy and Technology. We talked with Greg Nojeim who is a lawyer with the group about their fears that this would give the President too much power over cyber commerce. Click here to hear more.
