ABC Political Consultant Steve Roberts talked this morning about what a big problem AIG is for the Obama administration. The President's stongest language is being reserved for AIG. "I'm angry too!" AIG says it's legally obligated to pay $145 million in bonuses, but most Americans aren't buying it. Steve says it's a tight rope - the Obama administration has to identify with the populist anger but still dole out the money. Today is the 6th anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq, and most Iraqis are more optimistic for their future. ABC conducted its 6th poll of Iraqi citizens. 81% of Iraqis support a US withdrawal from their country in 18 months or sooner. 56% say we should never have invaded in the first place. Two-thirds of Iraqis now say that democracy is their preferred form of government. Gary Langer is the director of polling. He spoke with Tim and Amanda - fascinating.
