This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
I think it's often a distressing experience when parents leave their child in day care or preschool for the first time. But this transition is made a little easier when we entrust our children's safety and security to places such as the Imagination Station Day Care and Preschool in Kaysville.
Chelsea Erickson, who owns and operates the center, has spent much of her life caring for small children. She spent five years as a nanny then later worked for a Bountiful day care center for a year and a half. With all of her experience, she decided she was ready to open her own center, so she and her father took the necessary classes to become state and nationally certified and opened Imagination Station in August 2008.
Imagination Station provides both day care services and preschool. Chelsea says the preschool program uses a curriculum developed by a Farmington teacher that is based on concepts similar to those taught in Montessori schools. Curriculum is also age-appropriate.
Chelsea is working on procuring grant funds so she can track how much the preschool curriculum affects her young students' development. Once her Kaysville Imagination Station becomes successful enough, she would love to open additional locations around the state. She also hopes to arrange it so parents can bring their children in the evenings or on weekends for date nights.
Chelsea says Imagination Station Day Care and Preschool is distinguished from other day care programs because, in addition to the unique curriculum, teachers are required to obtain their Child Development Credential, or CDA, license. The center is one of only a handful around the state that is nationally certified.
