This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
If you want to enjoy a very special treat, you must try the pretzels from Mrs. Call's Candy. They are coated with a layer of caramel and then a layer of smooth Guittard chocolate and white chocolate. A decorative swirl is added for a handsome and appealing look. The pretzels are found in many stores and shops all over the country.
They are so delicious that I had to find out about the company that makes them. This led to my visit with John Call, owner of Mrs. Call's Candy. The Heber City-based company has been so successful that it recently moved to a bigger production facility to satisfy demand. John had a thriving career as an account executive for a large trucking company but wanted to become an entrepreneur and own his own business. He heard about a candy company up for sale and recognized a great opportunity.
After his purchase, John changed the candy packaging and devised new point of sales strategies. He concentrated on expanding his customer base and soon became a supplier for the Cracker Barrel stores. More people became interested in his candy, and he added other major retailers until he had customers in 30 states.
Besides the wonderful pretzels, Mrs. Call's Candy also offers other candy varieties. Black licorice caramel is one of the most popular. I loved the old-fashioned caramels. Real butter and rich, heavy cream make the gourmet treats special. John explained that his caramels are made the old-fashioned way and all the candies are produced with meticulous care and only the finest ingredients.
John told me that initially he wanted to make caramels that would "knock people's socks off." Well, they knocked mine off. I love the taste and texture and the fact that Mrs. Call's uses no preservatives, hydrogenated oils or harmful ingredients. Fresh, pure, heavy whipping cream, fine butter and the best ingredients result in great candy satisfaction.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
