LOS ANGELES, Oct 11, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Rachel Weisz, who won a Best Supporting Oscar this year for her role in "The Constant Gardener," has signed on to star in the U.S. film, "The Brothers Bloom."
The new film from American writer-director Rian Johnson, which will act as a follow-up to his 2005 film "Brick," will take Weisz and her fellow cast members to 12 countries in Europe and Asia when filming begins next February, the Hollywood Reporter said.
In "Brothers Bloom," the 35-year-old actress will play a millionaire who manages to outwit a group of international con men who are attempting one last job before one of its members retires.
The project is currently budgeted at just over $20 million and to date has not signed two American actors to play the other lead roles.
The newspaper said Weisz currently wrapped up production on "My Blueberry Nights" from director Wong Kar Wai and can be seen on Nov. 22 in her fiance Darren Aronofsky's new film, "The Fountain."
