Katie O'Brien is getting married Saturday. Like many bridal parties, O'Brien, her three bridesmaids and flower girl will have their hair styled. Unlike other bridal parties, though, they will have an audience.
The frenzy of spectators will be attendees of the Roswell Woman --- A Health, Beauty and Lifestyle Expo. The free event includes beauty tips from boutiques and salons such as Salon Arcaro, where O'Brien and her girls will be.
"Katie asked last year if I'd do her wedding hair and I said, 'Just make sure it's not the same day as the expo,' " said Adam Awtrey, owner of Salon Arcaro. "When it turned out to fall on the same day, I said I'd do her hair in public and donate the money to Star House and the Drake House."
The expo's wedding theme does not stop with O'Brien. "Fashion Theatre," a fashion show presented by the Roswell Beauty Salon Council and boutiques, like Legends, will mimic a wedding day. A model posed as a bride-to-be will rule the runway in preparation for her faux wedding day, along with model bridesmaids. The skit-style fashion show will end with a wedding reception. All the clothes and accessories on the models are from local shops and can be purchased at their respective booths or at the live auction. All proceeds will benefit local charities.
O'Brien, 27, says she is relaxed and is not worried about the crowd, her hair or her bridesmaids' hair.
"I'm easy," O'Brien said, laughing. "I'm not the bridezilla type --- not yet anyway. I guess we'll see that day." ROSWELL WOMAN --- A HEALTH, BEAUTY AND LIFESTYLE EXPO
