There is an overabundance of small lake trout at Flaming Gorge. There are so many, in fact, that the kokanee population is being overwhelmed and can't grow into adult fish for anglers. The Wyoming Fish and Game and Utah's Division of Wildlife Resources, have completed a survey detailing the amount of small lakers that are in the reservoir, and have plan on how to help the fishery. In the meantime, both organizations are relying on angler pressure to catch and keep the lakers, including through fishing derbys like the Mac Attack. We tag along as biologists tag lake trout for the contest, and catch a bunch of lakers to keep and eat ourselves. We also show how you too can catch lake trout pups.
