EVERETT, Washington — Over $80,000 has been raised for a 90-year-old man who filled many children of the '80s with the "power of Greyskul."

Roger Sweet is the designer who created the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" toy line, which debuted in 1982. This popular line went on to sell hundreds of millions of action figures and spurred the popular "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" television series (1983-1985).

Today, however, the beloved Mattel toy designer is living with dementia and recently suffered a devastating fall. The diagnosis and subsequent incident have caused him to need to live in a memory care facility.

According to his wife, Marlene Sweet, the cost of his care is $10,200 per month. To help with the cost, she created a GoFundMe* saying that it is "devastating to see this happening."

"Unfortunately, these care facilities are not covered by Medicare, and the cost for a patient in his condition is $10,200 a month, well above our monthly income," Marlene Sweet wrote. "So I am reaching out to all the HE-MAN fans for help with these bills. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will ease the burden of this new expense."

Over 1,000 people have so far donated to the man who made them all stand with (cardboard) swords held high over their heads and chant, "I have the power!"
