SALT LAKE CITY — A partial closure of 3300 South will remain in place for the next few days, as Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities works to fix a "complex" water main break near the Brickyard Shopping Plaza.

Westbound lanes of 3300 South were closed from 1100 East to 1300 East after the water main break was discovered by the Salt Lake City-Millcreek border, department officials reported Tuesday afternoon.

Hours later, city officials reported it would be a "more complex fix" than initially thought, which prolonged the closure. Officials now expect the closure will remain in place until sometime Friday.

"We are hoping to restore service by (Wednesday) evening," they added in a social media post.

Drivers are urged to drive carefully and follow signs along open sections in the repair zone. Utah Transit Authority reported that its 33 bus route will detour via Brickyard Road around the closed road section until it reopens.
