Go camping before the frost hits
If you really want your kids to have a good camping experience, going before the chilly weather kicks in is key. Whether you prefer tent camping near the water or RVing in the high alpine forests, Flaming Gorge has dozens of campgrounds to choose from.

Drive the Sheep Creek Geological Loop
If you miss the Tower Rock Run, you can still enjoy the stunning views of the Sheep Creek Geological Loop by car for a similar experience.
Starting 15 miles west of the U.S. Highway 191 and Utah Highway 44 intersection, the 13-mile loop follows the dramatic Uinta Fault.
It reconnects with Utah Highway 44 five miles south of Manila. Keep an eye out for bighorn sheep along the way!
Spend the day playing on the water
This is an activity that never gets old or goes out of style. Sometimes, nature provides the best entertainment, and nothing beats making the most of a big water playground. From wake surfing and tubing to paddleboarding and cruising, Flaming Gorge offers endless ways to enjoy the reservoir.
August and September bring warm days and crisp evenings—perfect for a day on the lake. If you really want to impress the kids, rent a boat from Lucerne Valley Marina or Cedar Springs Marina.
Hold on to summer as long as you can
Just because school is starting doesn't mean the fun has to end. In fact, your kids will probably appreciate having something to look forward to even more now that routines are kicking back in.

Don't miss your chance to soak up the last of the warm weather and experience the best that Flaming Gorge has to offer.
