HERRIMAN — A dramatic new video shows the terrifying moments leading up to a fiery crash in Herriman that left several people hospitalized and caused a building to explode.

The video shows a traffic light at 5200 West turn red — 14 seconds later, an SUV drove through the red light. The vehicle then collided with another and careened into a nearby building.

Mere moments later, the building erupted into flames.

Mitch Myler, owner of Squirts Car Wash, which sits diagonally across the street from the building, shared surveillance footage with KSL.

"That's what's kind of crazy, just being able to see the actual accident," he said. "I scrolled back a little bit further and saw where the accident occurred."

Police confirmed that the conditions of the SUV's occupants have been upgraded, although their identities have not been released.

"It's actually kind of scary to see," Myler said. "You never know which day is your last. The turn of events could have been casualties, which is honestly heart-wrenching."

Investigators are still working to determine why the driver ran the red light. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
