ST. GEORGE — With more than 500 murals to her name and her latest masterpiece just finished in Hurricane, Washington County, this Virgin resident continues to transform blank walls into vibrant works of art, one brushstroke at a time.

Patti Lewis has been painting murals for over 45 years, bringing color and creativity to everything from restaurant walls and hospital corridors to the grand interiors of casino halls.

"It's a challenge of creating it," Lewis said, pointing at a section of her newest 150-foot outdoor mural. "And trying to find unique things of interest in the mural that look interesting. Like I did a drop-off cliff there with a waterfall, or the challenge of making the rocks look real. I think that's fun."

Homeowners Dave and Kathy Booth opened their doors to St. George News for a firsthand look at the mural they commissioned from Lewis, designed to give visitors the feeling of walking through a desert canyon.
