Judge orders maximum sentence for man who raped girl in St. George motel room

ST. GEORGE — A Nevada man charged with two first-degree felonies of aggravated sexual abuse of a child appeared Tuesday for sentencing in 5th District Court, where conflicting statements and the defendant's vow of remorse were called into question.

Prior to this hearing, on Jan. 14. the defendant, Thomas John Snyder, 44, of Reno, Nevada, pleaded guilty to these charges. A presentence investigation report was prepared and submitted to the court five days prior to Tuesday's sentencing hearing.

He was sentenced to at least 10 years and up to life in prison for both charges.
