OREM — Even with a series of new names, faces and parts, Farmington's drill team found itself in a familiar position Saturday night.
The Nixelles swept all three categories of military, dance and show to repeat as 6A state champions at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University.
It's the fourth state title in six years for Farmington, including two for the then-brand new school in 2020 and 2021 when the Nixelles competed in 5A. But seven new dancers and a handful of injuries could have threatened a promising season.
Except it didn't.
"They just came in, picked up and changed several times — learned new parts and acted as a team," Farmington coach Shalice Larsen said. "They were there to jump in and step up when they needed to.
"We just always tried to be our best, to improve and be better than we were last year. They just tried to improve on each competition and each performance."
Bingham, which had won four straight before Farmington's current run, finished second in all three categories to clinch runner-up honors. Davis, Corner Canyon and Pleasant Grove rounded out the top five.
