2A/3A state drill: Canyon View wins 4th consecutive title; Duchesne repeats

OREM — The UHSAA combined its 2A and 3A schools to compete for its state drill finals that was hosted at the UCCU Center in Orem to crown champions for its respective classifications.

Canyon View, who has won the last three 3A drill championships, came in looking for its fourth straight title. Duchesne was also looking for its second straight 2A championship.

Duchesne came out on top in both military and dance, and placed second in show to clinch its second consecutive state title. Duchesne's show routine was inspired by Disneyland, with its costumes featuring Minnie Mouse ears at Disney shirts.

2A Overall:

  1. Duchesne
  2. South Sevier
  3. Beaver
  4. Kanab
  5. North Summit

2A Military:

  1. Duchesne
  2. South Sevier
  3. Beaver
  4. Kanab
  5. North Summit

2A Dance:

  1. Duchesne
  2. South Seiver
  3. Beaver
  4. Kanab
  5. Grand County

2A Show:

  1. South Sevier
  2. Duchesne
  3. Beaver
  4. Kanab
  5. Gunnison Valley

In 3A, Canyon View came away with its fourth consecutive championship despite Morgan winning both dance and military. Canyon View put together an impressive show performance, while Morgan took third in the routine to elevate Canyon View to another title.

Five years ago, Canyon View failed to make the top eight and compete in the finals, but have won ever since to continue its dynasty.
